It should come as no surprise that, when living in the desert, the natural growing season is quite small. What could be a surprise is that wildflowers don’t necessarily bloom every year and they don’t always bloom in the same locations.
This super-bloom happened to pop up in a popular mountain biking trail system. Otherwise I probably wouldn’t have seen it. A couple whole hillsides were covered with these sego lilies. I love these flowers because they look like fragile satin dresses in the middle of a truly harsh environment.
This is printed 18×24 inches on Fuji Pearl paper. This paper gives the image an almost metallic sheen. This paper also reacts quite vividly to the amount of light shown upon it. It’s truly a different image depending on the intensity of light.
